Kouri is a thoughtful and intelligent young girl, who is curious and has a constant thirst for knowledge. She is always pushing herself to become better and takes a keen interest in all things mythical and mysterious.

            Kouri is soon made to be the reluctant leader of the group by the fact that she was given the most details on their quest and entrusted with the safety of her younger brother Haydn, although he is more than keen to do more than his fair share of responsibilities. Kouri has a strong sense of right and wrong. Stubborn and set in her ways; Kouri finds it hard to adjust to the dangers of the outside world.

            Kouri excels in most of her subjects, and spends most of her time studying and training rather than enjoying her youth and 'goofing off'; because of this, Kouri is very disciplined when it comes to her subjects and battle. Also, she fails to socialize often, fearing that her grades will drop, and therefore only has a couple of good friends who she feels won't use her for her brains alone. She tries to protect her brother from all harm, and she constrains her emotions and puts on a brave front for him when they are in danger in order not to frighten him.

            Kouri is quite naïve when it comes to life outside Vinalden Academy, and refuses to believe that her beliefs are not what she thought they were to begin with.
